Here we are on Thanksgiving weekend of football and the theme of this particular piece will be teams we should be thankful for that exist both in positive and negative ways, that should make your tickets delightfully cash in this weekend. Let’s start with the collegiate side of things.
Georgia @ South Carolina
We should all be thanking Georgia and their stellar defense after this game, combined with thanking South Carolina’s atrocious offense. If the South Carolina Gamecocks struggled to score 10 points against Missouri, they may struggle to score even one point against Georgia’s defense, which is up there with Alabama’s defense. The only thing we will need to worry about is Georgia’s offense which hasn’t been as potent as years prior. As one of my friends always says, “for profit purposes”, we would take the under 47.5 total for this game at 2.10 odds because we are looking at a 35-7 type of finish here.
LSU @ Texas A&M
In this particular matchup, we are thankful for how LSU has done a complete 180 from last year’s team. We’d be surprised if Texas A&M scores less than 50 against what may be the SEC’s worst defense, although at times, Ole Miss likes to compete for this accolade. LSU’s offense may score a few points but not enough to take the +15 spread as we imagine Ed Orgeron, LSU’s head coach was pretty excited to see this line under 20 and may be putting a few dollars on it himself. LSU has averaged 30+ points a game, but a lot of those higher totals have been against the bottom feeders of the league. The over 63.5 total for the game isn’t a bad bet either at 1.89 odds, so look to bet both the Texas A&M spread of -15 and total of over 63.5 here.
NFL Picks
Arizona @ New England
Being thankful is hard when you pick a team to win and then they lose in the previous week, but I am thankful that Arizona did lose because we think they play better after a loss. Although New England did do the same, they don’t seem nearly as hungry as previous Patriot teams and no where near resilient. Arizona is the better team here and although it’s a west coast to east coast matchup and we usually shy away from those, here we just don’t think you can. Arizona -2 at 1.94 odds here is the play.
San Francisco 49ers @ LA Rams
In this matchup, we are thankful that the Rams beat the Bucs but more importantly we are thankful Jared Goff won’t go into some deep dark depression after a loss and complete 45% of his passes with 3 interceptions as he sulks like a little baby. The Rams are also undefeated at home so we could see Jared throwing for 5 touchdowns as when things go well for Jared, he does extremely well. If the 49er’s pick off one pass in his first 8 attempts though, this Rams -6.5 at 1.93 odds pick will go up in flames, but we are fairly confident that the Rams will beat the 49ers who have just placed their water boy on IR in what has become a season of injuries to the 2019 NFC champions.
