Cricket is back and in full flow with the return of the IPL, daily cricket action is always entertaining, and we are back with another breakdown. We will be giving insights on the best game of the week and some interesting bets to get around, so let’s get into it.
Mumbai Indians v Knight Riders
We kick the weekend off with an interesting Thursday night clash between the reigning champions Mumbai Indians and the former titleholders Kolkata Knight Riders.
Mumbai Indians have started the second half of this tournament with a loss but are still sitting in a qualifying spot. MI were missing marquee players in skipper Rohit Sharma and top all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
MI should look stronger with the return of their full squad which will strengthen their batting and boosts the morale of the reigning champions.
KKR have had an average season so far but have started this second half with a dominating win over RCB which has given them qualification hopes.
In the last 14 years, the two teams have had a very interesting history. The head-to-head between the two teams has been pure dominance. MI have gotten the better of KKR 22 times out of 28 clashes across all seasons.
MI has even managed to get the better of KKR in the seasons which were won by the side from Kolkata. The story has been the same this year too as MI has beaten KKR in their first clash of the 2021 season.
It will be interesting to see if KKR can gather the momentum from their dominant win against RCB to get one up the reigning champions.
Pitch and Weather Report
This match will take place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and we are set for a standard humid night of play.
The pitch is very balanced, it has something for the spinners and has good bounce for pacers as well. The ball does not come to the bat very easily initially but if batsmen show patience, this pitch gets easier to bat as you go.
The toss is not crucial here at all teams batting first have won 26 out of 54 games and the remaining 28 have been won by teams batting second. The average first innings score on this pitch is 162 and teams batting first should eye a near 170 score.
The MI squad rested their skipper Rohit Sharma after his return from a month-long test tour in England. We can expect the skipper to lead the squad tonight and open the batting with Quinton De Kock.
The questions still surround the availability of star all-rounder Hardik and there has been no update on him. MI will be happy to play Saurabh Tiwari who scored a half-century in their previous game if Pandya remains unavailable.
KKR squad are riding high with a crushing performance against RCB and we expect them to play an unchanged 11 in this must-win clash.
MI are the current favourite according to the odds and we agree with the line here, the 5-time champions have managed to win nearly 80% of their clashes with KKR.
We think the inclusion of their skipper and facing favourable foes is a great situation for MI and believe they will get the job done here tonight.
We also like another play here, the over/under 25.5 fours, we are leaning towards the over in this one. Both teams have batsmen who enjoy picking their boundaries and with an average first innings score of 162, we see a lot of boundaries as oppose to sixes in this clash.
