Big Bash League – Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades –
Most Sixes Perth Scorchers @ 1.65
Sensing a touch of value here, despite this bet losing in this match just a few days ago.
Aaron Finch returned to Big Bash cricket against the Scorchers last start and posted a huge 68 which included 5 sixes. We know he has class, but can he replicate that?
The Renegades batting line-up outside of Finch is thin, with a Finch failure almost making the 1.91 a no brainer.
The Scorchers bat deeper with the likes of Cam Bancroft and Ashton Turner around Mitch Marsh who is in the form of his life.
We expect the Scorchers to not only win, but to hit the most maximums. 1 unit
NFL – Minnesota Vikings vs. Los Angeles Rams – Handicap – Los Angeles Rams -3.5 (incl. Overtime) @ 1.95
In what looks to be one of the better contests on this week’s NFL slate, the Rams head on the road to face a Vikings outfit without their star running back in Dalvin Cook – out due to COVID protocols.
Minnesota does have a handy backup in Alexander Mattison, and the offense is capable of functioning well without Cook in the backfield… however, the Rams are a different beast to lowly Chicago that Minny beat last week.
The Rams sit pretty with a 10-4 record and stars throughout their line-up wherever you look. On defence they sit in the top third of the league for points conceded per game and in the top half for yards given up per game.
They’re a solid outfit, and it helps keep the offense moving along – the fourth ranked offense in the game in terms of PPG (27.6) and the sixth in yards per game (380.8).
Both of these units combine to form a squad that has an average positive scoring margin of +5.9 points over their opponents this season.
With the Vikings sitting at 7-7 on the year with a loss to an awful Detroit side and an ugly primetime win over Chicago in their past three weeks, we think the Rams will come in with a statement win as they look to carry some momentum towards the postseason. 1 unit
English Premier League – Aston Villa vs Chelsea – Double Chance Aston Villa & Draw @ 2.17
Steven Gerrard has rejuvenated Aston Villa since he was brought in from Rangers. Immediately dragging them out of the relegation scrap and back into a top half fight, Villa fans can be excited about what the future holds under the Liverpool legend.
They will next host a Chelsea side who have struggled in recent weeks. Thomas Tuchel’s side managed a 2-0 win over Brentford midweek to book their place in the final four of the Carabao Cup.
That being said, it took them 80 minutes to break down the Bees, a small sign of the minor drop in form for the Blues.
They go into this match deservedly favourites, but given their midweek match, more rotations might be needed for the reigning champions of Europe.
Villa on the other hand are set to get some much needed firepower back and at home, they’ve always been a tough side to break down.
Given the trends of both these sides, we’ll back the hosts to keep at least a point at home. 1 unit
Test Cricket – Australia v England – 1st Innings Marnus Labuschagne to Score 100 Yes @ 4.40
Days after officially being declared ICC #1 Test Batsman – and getting his first Ashes century out of the way last test match – look for Labuschagne to put the icing on the cake with a final huge score for the year, as he and Australia seek to deal an ultimate, fatal blow to England’s Ashes campaign.
Averaging 72.91 since batting in 3rd position (previous 14 tests), odds on we can look forward to more of his now famous “no run” and “wait on” calls as he enthusiastically occupies more time at the batting crease. 1 unit
English Premier League – Burnley Vs Everton – 1×2 Burnley @ 2.16
Despite Burnley’s struggles this season they are surely deserved favourites against Everton, with Rafa Benitez failing in his attempt to get this game postponed due to a Covid outbreak which has left an already injury ravaged squad down to the bare bones.
Benitez has claimed he only has nine first team players available to pick from.
Their form prior to this has been awful as well, with one win, two draws and seven defeats in the last ten games.
Burnley on the other hand don’t have any major concerns, with Maxwell Cornet expected to return after a short lay off. They’ve also had a couple of weeks off, with two of their matches already postponed due to the aforementioned Covid outbreak.
They’ll be desperate to pick up points to try and pull themselves out of the relegation zone, and a defeat for Everton will see them looking nervously over their shoulders.
I think considering the (somewhat unfortunate) circumstances surrounding this one that Burnley will see this as an excellent opportunity to get a win under their belt, and the 2.16 on offer is a shade too high. 1 unit
English Premier League – Tottenham v Crystal Palace – 1×2 Tottenham @ 1.77
- Dom Rae
Tottenham have adapted to life under Italian mastermind Antonio Conte very well and welcome Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace side on Boxing Day.
Although they probably should have seen Harry Kane sent off, their tactical plan and performance against Liverpool at home last weekend was mightily impressive and Conte will have been delighted to see his talisman get back on the scoresheet.
They continued their unbeaten run in the Carabao Cup in midweek against London rivals West Ham and now their attention turns back to the league, with sights firmly set on a top four place they look a good price to beat an inconsistent Palace side here to continue the Italian revolution. 1 unit
PDC World Darts Championships – Gary Anderson v Ian White – Winner Ian White @ 2.55
A 3rd round match for their 3rd matchup this year, and who has won the two previous? Ian White.
The Players Champs (BO11 legs), but probably more importantly, the Grand Prix in October – the same Set format as the World Championships.
Comparing their 2021 seasons and you cannot split them in checkout % or 3 dart averages. Anderson did however beat ex-world champion, Adrian Lewis, in the 2nd round comfortably, which could have shortened his price, but Adrian Lewis is not at the peak of his powers.
You should expect Anderson to be favourite because the Alexandra Palace is where he steps up a gear with 12 appearances cumulating in 1x SF, 3x Runners Up and 2x World Titles.
But with little momentum and still BO5 sets, the 1.49 looks too short. I was tempted with a bigger bet on White +1.5 Set Handicap, but it’s the same phrase I mutter every year… ‘it’s Christmas’! 1.5 units
NFL – Las Vegas Raiders vs Denver Broncos – Winner Las Vegas Raiders @ 1.97
VP have been impressive these past few matches, having taken down Gambit 2:0, now on a 3 game win streak.
Both teams seem evenly matched this tournament with Vitality also beating Gambit 2:1 and Nip 2:0.
Although I see Vitality winning this, I still feel VP’s recent performance should make this a close one. 1.5 units
Dota2 Huya Winter Invitational – Vici Gaming vs Royal Never Give Up – 1×2 – Royal Never Give Up @3.55
Vici Gaming was one of the teams who was able to qualify for the The International 10 with a respectable 5-6th place finish.
It is quite understandable why they are favoured to take a 2-0 win in this best-of-2 match with Royal Never Give Up. However, it’s the same team only by name after having to release 4 of its players and retaining only their position 1 player “poyoyo”. Royal Never Give Up is another team who underwent a roster shuffle but they were able to sign these three players, “Somnus丶M”, “Chalice”, and “xNova”. Yes, three players from the very dominant 2018-2019 PSG.LGD.
There’s definitely some value to be found in Royal Never Give Up taking this series considering their pedigree compared with the I would say “average” new players of Vici Gaming. 0.5 unit
A-League – Melbourne Victory vs. Western United – Under 2.5 Goals @ 1.96
Anticipating a low scoring affair here between these 2 teams. They already played each other in round 1, which victory won 1-0. Since then Western United have gone unbeaten in the league, winning their past 4 games, all 1-0.
So all fixtures involving Western United this season have have seen the under 2.5 goals coming in, with all 5 games seeing just the 1 goal for the match.
They have proven to be an extremely difficult side to breakdown since John Aloisi took over as manager in the off season.
On the other hand Melbourne Victory have seen the over 2.5 goals come in for each of their last 4 fixtures, but I do not seeing that continuing here.
They on paper are a team that are also built around a strong defence, with their manager, Tony Popovic being known for his teams being hard to breakdown & score against.
I feel the 1.96 on offer for the under 2.5 goals is great value here, and is much better chance of coming in than those odds suggest. 1 unit
English Premier League – West Ham vs Southampton FC – 1×2 West Ham @ 1.87
The Hammers come up against the Saints at home after a tough 2 weeks and losing their 4th spot in the Premier League.
Although their form has dropped, there is no doubt that West Ham are prepared to bounce back with a win against a struggling Southampton who haven’t won in their last 5 games.
The Hammers will be ready and hungry to return to their winning form and chase back their 4th spot and keep on top of the table. 1 unit
