English Premier League – Chelsea vs Burnley- Chelsea FC to nil @ 1.92
NBA – Sacramento Kings vs. Charlotte Hornets – Winner (incl. Overtime) Charlotte Hornets @ 2.02
This is an early-season clash between two teams that have long been starved of success but have opened this NBA season with decent performances overall.
Both sides here currently possess records over .500 (Kings at 4-4, Hornets at 5-4) and as a result the odds are quite even to reflect this. However, we think there’s value to be found here on the Hornets as a slight underdog on the road.
Two of Sacramento’s wins have come against the lowly New Orleans Pelicans; one of the worst teams in the league.
One of their other victories came thanks to a buzzer beater from Harrison Barnes, leaving their 4-4 record somewhat hollow as it stands.
The Hornets have looked impressive this season, recording victories over Championship favourites in Brooklyn and a solid Trail Blazers outfit in the West.
They began their West Coast road trip on Wednesday with a blowout loss to the Warriors, but the Kings are certainly not the Warriors – and Charlotte will be out to right their wrongs previously.
Charlotte have the second top performing offense in the league; scoring an average of 114.7 points per game so far puts them well above the middle-of-the-road Sacramento offense of 109.8 points per game.
With a breakout season being put together by Miles Bridges to go along with the continued development of Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball and veteran Gordon Hayward, they’ve got plenty of offensive options to put the ball in the hoop.
Charlotte is frankly the better team of the two here, and the road matchup here shouldn’t prevent them from victory. 1 unit.
English Premier League – Brentford vs Norwich City – 1×2 & Total – Brentford & Over 1.5 @ 1.89
The Bees have made a fantastic start to their debut Premier League season, surprising many of the big sides and currently out of the relegation picture.
Their next opponents are Norwich City, a side who may as well be relegated, based on how poor they have been since they were promoted last season.
Daniel Farke is surely on his last legs at Carrow Road, following their 7-0 loss to Chelsea and a poor 2-1 loss at home to Leeds United.
Failure to pick up points against a side they took 4/6 points in the Championship last season would just about be the last straw for the German.
Brentford aren’t exactly impenetrable either, leaving this game open to a few goals.
Given the recent form of these sides, we’ll back Brentford to pick up a comfortable win here and condemn the Canaries to what already looks like an inescapable fight for survival. 1 unit.
ICC T20 World Cup – New Zealand vs Namibia – 1st Innings Player Total Runs – Martin Guptill Over 24.5 @ 1.85
Fresh from a blistering 93 runs off just 56 balls against Scotland, the experienced Guptill looked to be back at his best.
Although he did reportedly lost 4kg from that innings – batting in the heat of Dubai – I’ll back him in here to recover in the quick turnaround.
This seems like a very generous runs line for a player his calibre, against a team which has only taken 7 wickets in their past two matches, and doesn’t seem to have much X factor with their bowling attack. 1 unit.
English Premier League – Arsenal Vs Watford – Handicap – Arsenal -1 @ 2.03
After a pretty terrible start to the season Arsenal have found their groove, winning five and drawing two of their last seven matches.
The additions of White, Tomiyasu and Ramsdale as well as Gabriel coming back from injury has seen a much more settled and solid defensive unit.
Further up the pitch they have the bang in form Smith-Rowe as well as Aubameyang and Saka to call upon, who on their day can trouble any team.
The team in question this weekend is Watford, who travel to the Emirates off the back of a pretty dismal showing in a 1-0 home defeat to Southampton.
Apart from their crazy 5-2 win at Everton a week before (which in fairness was mainly down to a complete capitulation by the Everton defence) they’ve looked fairly abject, with the appointment of Ranieri not really giving that new manager ‘bounce effect’.
With eighteen goals conceded in the ten matches played so far this season, they’ve conceded the fourth highest in the EPL.
Four of Arsenal’s five wins have been by two goals, and against this leaky Watford defence expect that trend to continue here. Arsenal -1 at a shade of odds against looks value (sorry Watford!) 1 unit.
ICC T20 World Cup – England v South Africa – 1st Innings Player Total Runs – Jos Buttler Over 24.5 @ 1.85
- Dom Rae
The top two teams in Group 1 of the T20 World Cup meet in Sharjah on Saturday night in what should be a fascinating match up. South Africa suffered a shaky start to the tournament with a defeat to Australia.
However, they have shown a lot of resilience to bounce back from that, and the uncertainty around talisman Quinton De Kock’s participation, winning all three of their subsequent games.
England however are a different beast, cantering through their opening three matches before facing their biggest challenge so far against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka looked a serious threat at one point, but England’s bowling unit lifted in the final five overs to help the team to a comfortable victory.
Much has been made of Jos Buttler’s form, with good reason, his previous two knocks have been nothing short of sensational and he clearly enjoyed the night-time conditions in Sharjah last time when he made 101 not out.
Sharjah has rewarded aggressive batters and the ground has seen consistently high totals so far this World Cup. Buttler’s devastating hitting and form, plus the conditions at this ground, makes backing him to score over 24.5 runs an appealing proposition here. 1 unit.
NFL – Baltimore Ravens vs Minnesota Vikings – Baltimore Ravens -6.5 Handicap (incl. OT) @ 1.98
You have to assume the bye week was an intensive week of training for the Ravens who’ve been ravaged by injuries.
You suspect they’ve been practicing hard particularly after being hammered by Cincinnati in Week 7. However even after that loss they come in 5-2 against all odds.
The Ravens won the last 6 of 7 at home too with that Bengals match being an outlier.
In 2021 season their scores at home are 34, 31 and 36. Consider they’re playing an out of form Vikings offence – Cousins passed a paltry 184 yards in Minneapolis, 278 total offensive yards and converted 1 in 13 1st downs.
Add in Vikings winning 1 in 3 on the road…A fresh MVP-calibre Lamar Jackson has to be a worry for the Vikings when the back-up Cowboys QB, Cooper Rush, threw 341 yards and 2 pass TD against them in SNF. This could be a rout! 1 unit.
Having last faced off in the ESL Pro League Grand Final which went to the 5th map, Vitality look to get back at Navi in what should be a great match to watch.
With the crowds finally back and Vitality players peaking at the right time, we will likely see this going to a third map. 1 unit.
English Premier League – West Ham vs Liverpool – 1×2 Draw @ 4.20
Two teams currently sitting 2nd & 4th, play each other in this Sunday twilight kick off at London Stadium. Liverpool have had some very impressive performances so far this year (two wins vs. Atletico Madrid, 5-0 win vs Man Utd) mixed in with some slip ups against mid-table sides (3-3 vs Brentford, 2-2 vs. Brighton). In the Premier League, they are currently four draws from 10 games. West Ham sit in fourth place with 20 points from 10 games.
They do have a short backup, having played a Thursday night Europa League match in Belgium, which they drew 2-2, but they rested a number of their best XI in that game.
They have hit good form recently, going unbeaten in their last 6 which include a 0-0 draw with man city, and wins over Tottenham and Aston Villa.
They are proving to be a top 4 contender in the premier league this season, and with home ground advantage, I think Liverpool will find it tough to break them down, and I think the 4.20 on offer for the draw looks good value. 1 unit.
