English Premier League – Arsenal vs Norwich 1×2 & Total Arsenal & Over 1.5 goals – 1.71
An old-fashioned six pointer between 19th & 20th!Jokes aside, only three games in, there are extreme concern for both of these sides, but both do indeed have some excuses.
Arsenal started their season losing away at Brentford, but were forced to follow up against the punters’ top two, two matches where they fell very short of the mark. Albeit with half of the side Mikel Arteta wants to see out on the park, Arsenal are 20th after 3 games – grim.
Norwich on the other hand have faced Liverpool, City and Leicester in their first three. Welcome back to the big time. However their optimism and naivety to adapt to a league where they will be underdogs in almost every game has already started to be the catalyst for downfall, as it did 24 months ago. They play great football, but is great football going to keep them up? They are shaky at the back and don’t seem to have the fire power going forward – it does look grim early doors for Norwich.
Could Mikel Arteta be sacked if Arsenal fail to win here? It’s a genuine possibility that won’t be explored – Arsenal to use the break to their advantage, to recover and refresh, making matters worse for the away side, cruising to a big win here. This could be the biggest price we ever see Arsenal at home to the 19th placed side, make the most of it. 1 unit.
NFL – New York Jets vs. Carolina Panthers – Winner (incl. Overtime) New York Jets @ 2.75
You’re probably looking at this tip, thinking back to how bad the Jets were last year, and then thinking that this is a long shot. The Jets enter this match as the deserved underdog after a woeful season last year which culminated in a head coach firing, a number 2 draft pick and numerous other personnel changes including the trade of staring QB Sam Darnold to their opponents this week – the Carolina Panthers.
Each and every one of these changes is a good chance to make the Jets a better football team this season. They fired one of the worst head coaches in NFL history in Adam Gase – a man who had zero creativity on offense and was useless as a motivator. He’s been replaced by the promising Robert Saleh. They had some of the worst offensive weapons in the league last season; to rectify, they’ve brought in athletic receiver Corey Davis and spent decent draft capital on Elijah Moore and Michael Carter to give the team some more options. The most noteworthy of personnel changes has been #2 overall pick Zach Wilson – he’s looked fantastic through preseason and the Jets went undefeated.
We know you can’t read into much at all based on preseason numbers, but with the Jets addressing their biggest issues of the atrocious coaching and the bad offensive group (coupled with their solid defense) we believe that they’ll be a much better outfit this time around and have been a bit disrespected here at this price. 1 unit
Bundesliga – RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich – Anytime Goalscorer Robert Lewandowski @ 1.85
Off the back of a hat-trick in the league last time out against Hertha Berlin, as well as a stellar performance against England on international duty, Robert Lewandowski continues to show that age is only a number. The 33-year old Polish striker has been one of Europe’s most consistent goal-scorers for a decade now, with Bayern and before that with Borussia Dortmund.
He will now turn his attention to a mouth-watering match against RB Leipzig this weekend. After nearly winning the title last season, Leipzig have struggled to make an early claim for this year’s league, currently in 10th with two losses from three games.
Without Marcel Sabitzer, Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate, they may struggle to mount as strong as a challenge as last season. Perhaps their most crucial departure however, was that of manager Julian Nagelsmann. One of the brightest coaching talents in world football, the 34-year old was courted by Bayern and named as head coach following the departure of Champions League winner, Hansi Flick.
With two of the aforementioned three former Leipzig stars also now plying their trade for Die Roten, this weekend’s match is a must-see for any fan of European football. Back Lewandowski to find the net here at any time for a decent price. 1 unit.
Serie A – SSC Napoli vs Juventus – 1×2 Napoli @ 2.46
Another hotly contested rivalry, which runs along Italy’s North vs South divide.
Juventus have made a poor start to the season (post Ronaldo hangover?) and it’s only going to get harder. Their South American contingent are in huge doubt (Dybala indicated he’s willing to play, but would only be arriving the day before) and Federico Chiesa and Aaron Ramsey will miss with injury.
Napoli will fancy themselves at home. They’re off to a perfect start this season far, and had a boost mid-week with Victor Osimhen successfully having his suspension reduced to one game. They’ve won their last 3 home games against Juventus, and seem much less affected by player un-availabilities. 1 unit.
English Premier League – Chelsea vs Aston Villa – Asian Handicap Chelsea -1.5 @ 1.85
The EPL makes a very welcome return this weekend after the international break no one wanted a mere three games into the season. Chelsea will look to return to winning ways as they welcome Aston Villa to Stamford Bridge after a 1-1 draw against Liverpool the last time out.
They will feel there were some mitigating circumstances that resulted in them being unable to maintain their 100% record after recording easy victories over Crystal Palace and Arsenal, with Reece James conceding a controversial penalty at 1-0 up just before halftime that resulted in him being sent off and Liverpool equalising from said spot kick. Thomas Tuchel won’t have James available due to suspension or Thiago Silva due to Covid-19 restrictions, but other than that has no personnel concerns, with Romelu Lukaku expected to lead the line after shaking off a niggle picked up on international duty.
VIlla on the other hand have had a bit of a mixed bag of results so far, with a disappointing opening day defeat to EPL newcomers Watford followed by a 2-0 dispatching of Newcastle and then a draw at home to also promoted Brentford. Indeed, it’s difficult to gauge how Villa have actually done so far, with Newcastle looking like they’ll be flirting with relegation again this season and the other two sides a relatively unknown quantity in the EPL. They’ll be heartened by the form of recent signing Danny Ings, who has got up and running with two goals in his last three games, but unfortunately won’t be able to field Emiliano Martinez or Emiliano Buendia who like Thiago Silva are unavailable due to the same Covid-19 restrictions.
Olly Watkins could return after injury to partner Ings up top Chelsea have looked dominant so far this season, and even after going down to 10 men against Liverpool more than matched them in the second half of that fixture. Dean Smith will likely go to Stamford Bridge with the intention of parking the proverbial bus, but with an in the mood Lukaku in the Chelsea ranks backed up with the attacking creativity they possess I’m not convinced this will be enough, and expect Chelsea to win this one comfortably. 1 unit.
NFL – Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills – Buffalo -6.5 @ 1.96
For the first time in a long time, Buffalo head into a season with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. Many expect Josh Allen to improve his game even further and build upon last season’s trip to the AFC Championship game.
Pittsburgh on the other hand seems to be headed in the other direction coming off dropping five of their last six in 2020 and enduring a difficult off season over the summer. While I’m that quick to totally rule out the Steelers this season, they certainly have a tough task in Week 1 here.
The Bills went 7-3 ATS at home last season, largely without fans in the stadium. A full house at Buffalo against a Steelers side that will field an almost entirely new o-line should see the Bills to a nice opening win to set themselves up for what could be a memorable season. 1 unit
US Open – Men’s Singles Novak Djokovic Vs Alexander Zverev – Total Games Over 40.5 @ 2.1
The $3.10 price for Zverev to win this match I think is quite insulting. I have Djokovic favourite of course with his Grand Slam record, but Zverev is in the form of his life. Incredibly Zverev has only lost three sets since 5th July when going out at Wimbledon.
Since then he has won Gold at the Olynpics and the Cincinnati Masters. The first of these three sets was at the Olympics against none other than Novak Djokovic in the SF. Zverev dropped his second to Tsitsipas, again in SF, on the way to winning Cincinnati and finally Vs Jack Sock in R3 here at the US. The big serving German is no stranger to a tie-break too, playing one in previous two matches – adds too the Overs appeal.
After the Berrettini win in the previous round, Djokovic said that was the best he has played all tournament. However, it took him losing the first set to get going. In fact he has dropped a set in four out of five matches at the US Open, including a couple tie-breaks on the way. This could be a late night classic on Arthur Ashe and with Djokovic’s knack of dropping a set plus Zverev’s form, it’s going to be a tight affair making all the total lines look low (you could take O38.5 at 1.84). 1.5 units.
The world #1 team look to be in great form, having only lost 1 match this tournament to BIG. With solid individual performances coming from S1mple and electronic, it will take quite some effort from the #20 team to pull off a win. Although ENCE has made it this far, beating teams such as Astralis, Forze and Spirit, their recent results in the Nordic Masters have been disappointing with losses to Dignitas and HAVU. Map picks will be crucial if ENCE want to take a map off Navi. Overall, this will be a great test for ENCE. 1 unit.
Scottish Premier League – Celtic Glasgow – Ross County FC
Asian Handicap Celtic -2.75 @ 2.42
After winning 9 league titles in a row Celtic finished runners-up to Rangers last season, and in the off season they brought in a new manager, Ange Postecoglou. Ange is well known for his aggressive, attacking style of football, and their 2 home games so far this season have been 6-0 wins, with 31 & 37 shots on goal, and their possession stats have been 74% or higher in both.
Ross County are a team fighting to stay up this season. Last season they finished 1 spot out of relegation, and had the worst defensive record in the league. All in all this match looks a very one sided affair, and with the new managers gameplan and the fact he’s still trying to prove himself to the fans, I can’t see Celtic slowing down even if they do go 2 or 3 goals up. 1 unit.
Dota2 OGA Dota Pit Invitational – PSG.LGD vs Team Spirit
Total Maps – Over 4.5 @ 2.70
PSG.LGD are still undefeated in this tournament and are the clear favorites to win the whole thing, made more impressive by the fact that they’ve been playing with their coach “xiao8” as a stand-in. PSG.LGD easily dispatched the who I think was the strongest contender for the finals, Tundra Esports, in the upper bracket finals with a score of 2-0 and are now poised to take the grand finals as well. However, I wouldn’t count out Team Spirit just yet. Team Spirit was sent down to the lower bracket in the 1st round but ever since has been on a tear, winning 8 straight maps so far sending Team Undying, Fnatic, T1, and Tundra Esports out of the tournament. Team Spirit’s momentum and the fact that the last time PSG.LGD and Team Spirit met, the best of 3 series went to a 3rd map, I have a feeling this could be a closely contested match. If you’re not feeling my tip, you could take advantage of our promo and place a bet on the Winner market instead and get double your winnings if your selection goes 3-0 😉 1 .5 units
This week’s Community Tip comes from Karim who has chosen the following.
Serie A – AC Milan vs SS Lazio – First Half – Asian total over 1.5 @ 2.47
We can all agree that Lazio is a kind of a team that scores and concede many goals in the first half, and also AC Milan is competing with Lazio on the first place so I’m sure that the first half of this match will be on fire and it’s an easy bet with good odds.
