Welcome to the NBA weekly column where we have 7 days of predictions for 7 games. Many of you may wonder how this is possible, but we have carefully picked out one game a day and predicted how much the team will win by which should be higher than the original spread. As the NBA spreads are not out yet, please look at how much the team is predicted to win by to make sure they cover the spread. We are predicting that this will go 5-2 or 4-3 in the worst case scenario. Best of luck everyone and enjoy the predictions.
Note, we will be using GMT -8 (California Time) for the days of the game.
Game #1 – Monday – Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors – Kings by 5+
Whenever these two teams get together, the Sacramento Kings always play tough. It’s hard to be only 90 minutes away from the Warriors and be the laughing stock of the league. Nonetheless, the Kings have a roster that should get them into the playoffs this year if they stay healthy. Sacramento are coming off 2 straight losses to the Rockets, and we expect them to bounce back today against a Warriors team who are on a back to back. Steph Curry dropped 60+ points against the Blazers so we fully expect him to come back down to reality against a Kings team that should be fully focused on both sides of the ball. Take the Kings and expect them to win by at least 5 points on Monday.
Game #2 – Tuesday – Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets – Nuggets by 13+
These teams just played on Sunday in Minnesota. The Timberwolves had a 1 point lead going into the 4th quarter and they just laid an egg. The Nuggets ended up winning by 15 and now they play each other again in Denver. We expect big things out of Jokic this game with Karl Anthony Towns still sidelined by his wrist injury. While the game in Minnesota was close going into the 4th, we think the elevation will get to the Timberwolves early. We expect this game to be a blowout in the 3rd quarter. Take the Nuggets and lay anything up to 13.
Game #3 – Wednesday – Toronto Raptors vs. Phoenix Suns – Raptors by 7+
We have two of the biggest surprises of the year so far. The Raptors have been downright horrible with a 1-4 record. On top of their 1-4 record, they are winless on the road. On the contrary, the Suns have been red hot sporting a 5-2 record. We can foresee things to regress back to normal for both teams. The Raptors are much better than their record and the Suns are overachieving a tad. With the length of Toronto, we expect the Suns to have problems shooting their 3 pointers. Expect a great defensive effort out of the Raptors and a comfortable win. Take the Raptors and lay anything up to 7 points in this game.
Game #4 – Thursday – Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Portland Blazers – Blazers by 9+
We are back to fading the Timberwolves for the 2nd time this week. The Blazers have been on the road for 4 games and on Tuesday they play the Chicago Bulls. We never like to take the home team after a long road trip. Therefore, we are waiting for the 2nd game at home which is Thursday against the Timberwolves. With no inside presence for Minnesota, we expect Portland to do a lot of driving and cutting inside the paint. Expect a huge game from Lillard and Nurkic. This game shouldn’t be close. Take the Blazers and lay anything up to 9 points in the game.
Game #5 – Friday – Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New York Knicks – Thunder by 7+
Friday Night at Madison Square Garden. That was something people used to fear but we have faith that the young Oklahoma City Thunder will take care of business against a Knicks team that is playing better than expected. The Thunder definitely miss CP3 (Chris Paul) but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is playing lights out. He’s driving to the paint more than anyone else in the league which is setting up easy baskets for himself and his teammates. The Thunder should be able to take care of business. Take the Thunder and lay anything up to 7 points in the game.
Game #6 – Saturday – Phoenix Suns vs. Indiana Pacers – Pacers by 8+
This is just a horrible matchup for the Suns. The Suns will be on a second half of back to back. They have the Detroit Pistons on Friday Night and then they have to go into Indiana and play the Pacers on Saturday Night. This one won’t be close. The Pacers play the type of defense that the Suns have trouble against. Long, athletic, grind it out type of teams are not what the Suns like to play. Take the Pacers and lay anything up to 8 points in this game.
Game #7 – Sunday – Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics – Celtics by 7+
This will be the 2nd matchup between the Heat and the Celtics this week. They also play on Wednesday in Miami but we have our sights set on the Sunday matchup in Boston. Despite what happens in the first game, we expect Boston to come out and play tough at home especially after what happened in the NBA Playoffs last year. We wouldn’t be surprised if Boston takes both games, but we’re only focused on this 2nd game in Boston. Boston should definitely be playing with a chip on their shoulder as they were the better team last year. Take the Celtics and lay anything up to 7 points in this game.
So there you have it everyone. 7 NBA games in 7 days. Like we said earlier, we would be shocked if this doesn’t go 4-3 at least. Remember to bet responsibility and enjoy this full week of sports handicapping in the NBA. Best of luck everyone!
