Welcome to our special Thanksgiving weekly preview.
Thanksgiving is a holiday where many American football fans will have the NFL games on all day while stuffing their face with turkey and mashed potatoes.
We hope that we can provide the dessert for your Thanksgiving feast with these five predictions. After two down weeks in a row, we are hoping that we can get back on track for this special occasion.
If this is your first time reading our Weekly Preview, we offer a five-day slate of predictions starting from Thursday and ending on Monday.
This covers the NFL Thursday Night Football, a Friday college football game, a Saturday college football game, a Sunday NFL game and finally the Monday Night Football Game to end the week!
With that said, let’s get into the winners for the week!
NFL – Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
Is there a better way to start off your Thanksgiving festivities than by betting on the winless Lions?
Although the Lions haven’t won on Thanksgiving since 2016, we are quite confident that they will snap that streak and not only cover but win against the Chicago Bears.
We can not fathom the Bears being ready mentally for this game after what has transpired over the last few weeks.
After losing 3 straight, the Bears looked like they were on the cusp of victory against the Steelers heading into their bye week.
Unfortunately for the Bears, their defence allowed the Steelers to kick a game winning field goal with 26 seconds left.
After having a week off to think about their crushing defeat, they were in basically the same situation last week against the Ravens.
A late score put them up with less than 2 minutes left, and their defence allowed a Ravens offense with a backup Quarterback to score a touchdown with 22 seconds left.
Instead of the Bears being 5-5 and fighting for a Playoff spot, their season is basically done. On the contrary, although the Lions are 0-9-1, they have been playing with a lot of motivation and hunger.
We expect them to be hungry for their first win of the season and we believe getting 3 points is definitely a holiday gift. Take the Lions at +3 and expect them to not only cover but to win outright.
Selection: Detroit Lions +3 @ 1.96
College Football – Boise State Broncos @ San Diego State Aztecs
The day after Thanksgiving is always a great day for college football. Out of all the games on slate, we will be backing the unranked Boise State Broncos against the #21 ranked San Diego State Aztecs.
One of our favourite angles in college football is to take unranked opponents on the road when they are favoured against ranked opponents.
This is a perfect situation as Boise State is a small favourite against a San Diego State team that is extremely overrated.
Don’t expect much of a home field advantage for the Aztecs here.
The game is being played extremely early in California and because of stadium renovations this game is being played roughly 90 minutes from campus.
While both teams need to win here to be able to play in the Mountain West Championship game, we believe Boise State will be ready to play.
Winners of four in a row, the Broncos defence has been playing extremely well. San Diego State has trouble moving the ball offensively and has been in nail biters in almost all their wins this season.
Their 10-1 record may look impressive but this is definitely not a team that should have one loss.
Expect the Broncos to dominate the trenches and control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
We are expecting a double digit victory here, so feel very confident laying the -2.5 points against the Aztecs.
Selection: Boise State Broncos -2.5 @ 1.87
College Football – Ohio State Buckeyes @ Michigan Wolverines
This is by far the biggest matchup of the week in college football.
The #2 Ohio State Buckeyes go on the road to Michigan to face the #5 Wolverines.
While we never like to lay points on the road, we believe that the Buckeyes are peaking at the right time.
The Buckeyes have put up 59 and 56 points over their last two games.
While these numbers are impressive against any teams, they were playing #19 ranked Purdue and #7 ranked Michigan State when they accomplished this feat.
As impressive as Michigan has been themselves, we believe that this will be another beat down for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines.
Jim Harbaugh can not win a big game if his life depended on it. He’s 0-5 against Ohio State and we expect his losing ways to continue.
The Buckeyes have been playing extremely well on both sides of the ball.
As hard as it is to lay 8.5 points in a top 5 matchup, we believe that the Buckeyes will handle business on the road and easily cover this spread.
Selection: Ohio State -8.5 @ 1.90
NFL – Los Angeles Rams @ Green Bay Packers
The Los Angeles Rams are in desperate need of a win. After looking like the team to beat in the NFC, the Rams have dropped their last two in a row.
Luckily for them, they are coming off a bye which could not have come at a better time.
The Packers on the other hand are quite banged up on both sides of the ball and are coming off a heart-breaking loss.
With a 2.5 game cushion lead in the NFC North, the Packers could “afford” to lose this game and still be in great position for the Playoffs.
A loss for the Rams here would basically put their NFC West division title hopes out of reach.
As hard as it is to take a warm weather team to beat Green Bay in Lambeau, we believe Matthew Stafford and the Rams will come out red hot.
Take the slumping Rams coming off a bye and expect them to play like they played earlier in the season.
While it’s very rare to only get a point on the road against Green Bay, we believe that the Rams are definitely the right side in this huge NFC matchup.
Selection: Los Angeles Rams +1 @ 1.89
NFL – Seattle Seahawks @ Washington Football Team
This Monday Night matchup features two teams that were in the Playoffs last year that are basically on the cusp of elimination.
The Seahawks are a very disappointing 3-7 and would need a miracle to make the Playoffs.
The Washington Football team have won two in a row and are on a bit of a hot streak but are still 4-6 overall.
While Seattle has looked downright horrible the last few weeks, we still have to respect what happens on Monday Night Football.
Superstars come out to play and Russell Wilson is known to shine with his 10-2 record on Monday Night.
This is definitely a last chance effort for Seattle to get their season back on track.
As hard as it is to take the Seahawks here, we believe that they will finally get back to their winning ways.
Throw all the statistics out the window for this game and have belief that Russell Wilson has recovered from his injury and will look like he usually does on Monday Night.
While it won’t be an easy victory, the Seahawks should be able to pull this one out on the road against a mediocre Washington Football Team.
Selection: Seattle Seahawks +1.5 @ 1.91
We wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving and are hoping to bring some extra joy with our 25/1 multi finally hitting for the season. Good luck everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!
