Welcome to our 15th Edition of our Weekly Preview. December has continue to treat us well with us going 4-1 last week. What may even be more impressive is that we are 7-0 in our last seven NFL games.
This week we will be covering four NFL and one college football game. We hope that we can bring some extra coin for everyone during this special holiday weekend. Best of luck everyone and Merry Christmas!
If this is your first time reading our Weekly Preview, we offer a five-day slate of predictions starting from Thursday and ending on Monday.
This covers the NFL Thursday Night Football, a Friday college football game, a Saturday college football game, a Sunday NFL game and finally the Monday Night Football Game to end the week! With that said, let’s get into the winners for the week!
NFL – San Francisco 49ers @ Tennessee Titans
This Thursday Night Football game features two teams that are going in opposite directions. Though the Titans would be the #3 seed if the season ended today, they are hanging on by a thread.
Losers of 3 out of their last 4, Tennessee can not do anything on offense.
Other than an impressive win against the Jaguars, the Titans have looked downright miserable this last month. In the three games they lost, they have turned over the ball 13 times.
Luckily for them, no matter what happens this week, they will still be holding on to a Playoff spot.
With two winnable games to end the season, we believe that the Titans will slump their way into the Playoffs. On the other side of the ball, we have a surging 49ers squad.
The 49ers have won 5 out of their last 6 games and have looked quite impressive on both sides of the ball. With a one game cushion in the NFC, the 49ers need to most likely win two of their last three games to make the Playoffs.
After this game, they will host the Texans and then play the Rams on the road. Therefore, the 49ers will most likely need to win this game as they will probably lose to the Rams to end the season.
Though we never like to look too deep into the initial line, the oddsmakers definitely believe the 49ers are a better team here despite their record.
We also believe that and we are confident that the 49ers will take care of business on the road and not only win but cover in Tennessee.
Selection: San Francisco 49ers -3.5 @ 1.98
College Football – Memphis Tigers @ Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
Merry Christmas Eve! Luckily for us football fans Santa came a day early and brought us the Hawaii Bowl. This matchup features the Memphis Tigers against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.
Hawaii is very fortunate to be playing in this bowl game especially due to the fact they are the only team in college football with 7 losses that was bowl eligible.
Hawaii needed two wins in their last two games to possibly get a bowl bid and they pulled it off.
Their reward is a matchup in Hawaii against a Memphis squad that has played terrible all year on the road.
Despite the Rainbow Warriors losing both their starting quarterback and running back to the transfer portal, we believe that 8.5 points is way too much for the Tigers to be laying.
Bowl games in Hawaii are always tricky for the opposing team. Most of these kids have never been to a more beautiful place in the world and lose focus prepping for the actual game.
With the warm weather and distractions, we believe that the Rainbow Warriors will ultimately do enough offensively to keep pace with this Tigers team.
Expect this game to be full of turnovers that will have you on the edge of your seat throughout the game.
With that said, we believe the Rainbow Warriors have a slight chance to pull the outright upset. Take the points and expect this game to come down to the wire!
Selection: Hawaii Rainbow Warriors +8.5 @ 1.89
NFL – Cleveland Browns @ Green Bay Packers
Isn’t it absurd how one kick can change the whole direction of a team with three weeks remaining? If Daniel Carlson missed his 48 yard field goal attempt, the Cleveland Browns would be on top of the AFC North and in the Playoffs.
Instead, they are at the bottom of the AFC North and their season is on the brink of disaster. With all the bad luck they’ve encountered all year, now they face the Green Bay Packers who are extremely focused on getting a first round bye and having the Playoffs go through Lambeau Field for a second straight year. Beating the Packers in Lambeau Field in December is almost impossible.
Beating them on an extremely short week after a gut wrenching defeat? We believe the chances are next to zero. The Packers needed a two point conversion stop to win last week. A victory like that should keep their confidence extremely high.
Though laying 7 points to a team that needs to win to keep their season alive is a tough thing to do, we expect the Packers to blow out the Browns on Christmas Day.
The Browns have been quite dysfunctional all year and unfortunately for them, their season will end on Christmas. Take the Packers and expect them not only to win but to easily cover the 7 point spread. Merry Christmas everyone!
Selection: Green Bay Packers -7 @ 1.92
NFL – Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals
With three games remaining in the season, the Bengals are on top of the AFC North. If the season ended today, the Baltimore Ravens would be sitting at home in utter disbelief thinking how unlucky their season has been.
Despite all the injuries the Ravens have had this season, they have remained very competitive and hungry.
Unfortunately for them, they have relied on the two point conversion a bit too much. The Ravens have gone for a two point conversion in the final minute of their games twice in their last three games.
Unfortunately for them, both conversions failed and they walked away with 1 point losses. What might even be more amazing is that the other game they lost in this three game slide was by 2 points.
To sum it up, the Ravens have lost their last three games by a combined four points which is gut wrenching to say the least.
The Bengals, on the other hand, have been up and down all year but could really strengthen their playoff chances with a win.
With the Kansas City Chiefs on deck, the Bengals can not afford to lose this game. Earlier this year, they destroyed the Ravens in Baltimore.
That Ravens team was a lot healthier than this one and we expect the Bengals to stick to the same game plan they had during that game.
Overcoming adversity is a huge aspect in the NFL. Just like their rivals the Cleveland Browns, we believe the end is near for the Ravens.
Take Joe Burrow and the Bengals and expect them to take care of business at home.
Selection: Cincinnati Bengals -2.5 @ 1.90
NFL – Miami Dolphins @ New Orleans Saints
Are you ready for some Monday Night Football? This matchup features two 7-7 teams that are both riding high with momentum.
The Dolphins have won six straight since starting the season 1-7. The Saints have given up 9 total points in their last two games and just got done shutting out Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
Unfortunately for both of these teams, they still have a lot of work to do if they want to make the Playoffs.
We believe that the New Orleans Saints have a very realistic shot of making the Playoffs if they can beat the Dolphins on Monday Night.
The Saints end their schedule with the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons. While those are both division games, we believe the Saints can easily win both of them.
Therefore, if they can get by the Dolphins, they should end the season with a 10-7 record which would definitely put them in the Playoffs.
As impressive as the Dolphins have looked over these last six games, there is something that needs to be mentioned.
Other than their victory against the Ravens, the Dolphins have beaten some of the worse teams in the NFL. Their winning streak includes victories against the Texans, Giants, Panthers and Jets (2x).
While still an impressive streak, we believe that the Dolphins are getting a bit too much respect.
Though the 3 point point spread in New Orleans seems a bit low, we expect the Saints to take care of business on Monday Night.
Don’t get fooled here thinking this point spread is too low. Take the Saints and expect them to win by double digits.
Selection: New Orleans Saints -3 @ 1.89
Last week we came extremely close to hitting our multi going 4-1. We hope that we can leave one last gift under the tree for everyone on this extremely special weekend.
Merry Christmas and good luck!
