Doesn’t time just fly when it’s football season? We are already into Week 2 of the NFL season and with football on 5 days a week, we are expecting the rest of 2021 to zoom by. Last week, we ended our Weekly Preview with a 60 percent winning percentage. It doesn’t sound amazing, but if you can go 60 percent each week, you’ll never have to work a day in your life. We are hoping to build on that success this week and are striving for perfection this week!
If you are new to this, we offer a five-day slate of predictions starting from Thursday and ending on Monday. This covers the NFL Thursday Night Football, a Friday college football game, a Saturday college football game, a Sunday NFL game and finally the Monday Night Football Game to end the week. Let’s get down to business!
NFL – New York Giants @ Washington Football Team
Are you ready for some Thursday Night Football? Taylor Heinicke, the Washington Football Quarterback, will be thrown in the spotlight yet again after “Fitzmagic” got hurt last week.
If you are worried about Heinicke letting the pressure get to him, remember how well he played against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Playoffs last year. Not only did he have success rushing the ball, but he threw for over 300 yards against a great defence.
The Giants defence looked atrocious last week and we are expecting Heinicke and the Washington Football team to do enough offensively to not only win but cover the spread. With Buffalo on deck, the Washington Football Team can not let this game slip away or they will definitely be starting the year 0-3.
Expect their amazing defensive line to cause chaos for the Giants and the Redskins to comfortably cover the 3 point spread at home.
Selection: Washington Football Team -3 @ 1.84
IF YOUR TEAM LEADS AT THE END OF THE THIRD QUARTER, YOU’RE A GUARANTEED WINNER! BE PAID OUT AS WINNER UP TO $250 EVEN IF YOUR TEAM GOES ONTO LOSE THE GAME!
College Football – Maryland Terrapins @ Illinois Fighting Illini
Covering the spread on a Friday night for a road team is one of the hardest things to do in college football. The home team is always fired up that they are on national television and the one less day of preparation for the road team usually proves to be costly.
We have a perfect example of this with the Terrapins going into Illinois. Maryland has played both their first two games at home and are now going into a hostile environment.
The Fighting Illini looked great against Nebraska to open their season, but have fallen apart in their last two games. Brett Bielema is too good of a coach to drop 3 in a row here and we are expecting a hard fought game.
With the spread being +7.5, we can not pass up the opportunity to take the Fighting Illini here. Even if they don’t pull the outright upset which we are predicting, we will be shocked if they don’t cover the spread. Take Illinois and expect a hard fought game that will be decided by less than a touchdown.
Selection: Illinois Fighting Illini +7.5 @ 1.90
College Football – Northwestern Wildcats @ Duke Blue Devils
This Saturday we are flying under the radar with a game that no one is talking about. The Northwestern Wildcats started off their season with a disappointing loss to Michigan State. They are currently 1-1 and look like a very mediocre football team.
Don’t let their record or how they played these last two games fool you. Northwestern is still a solid football team and we are expecting them to demolish Duke on the road this Saturday.
Duke had a horrendous 2020 season going 2-9. They aren’t much better this year and were down a touchdown last week to North Carolina A&T at home.
They got it together in the 2nd half and ultimately pulled away, but they have issues on both sides of the football. Expect the Wildcats to dominate and win this game by double digits.
Selection: Northwestern Wildcats -3 @ 1.94
NFL – San Francisco 49ers @ Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles shocked us last week demolishing the Atlanta Falcons 32-6. Don’t expect the same result against a 49ers defence that will be able to not only pressure Jalen Hurts but to force him to turnover the ball multiple times.
We always like to back a team that is overcoming a major injury. Raheem Mostert, the 49ers starting running back, is out for the year after suffering a gruesome injury. We expect the 49ers running backs to put up some great yardage against an Eagles defence that allowed over 100 rushing yards in the first half to the Atlanta Falcons.
With four of the next 5 games against Playoff teams, the 49ers can not afford to drop this game. Expect the Eagles to come back down to life this week against a 49ers team that should be able to dominate them on both sides of the ball.
As long as the 49ers don’t shoot themselves in the foot like they did last week (Up 24 with 2 minutes left but ultimately only winning by 8), they should easily win this game by a touchdown or two.
Selection: San Francisco 49ers -3.5 @ 1.95
NFL – Detroit Lions @ Green Bay Packers
The Green Packers looked horrible last week in their blowout loss to the New Orleans Saints. Now they are hosting Monday Night Football and the media is already having a field day with questions regarding Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers, who hosted Jeopardy instead of participating in Preseason football, looked downright atrocious against the New Orleans Secondary.
Luckily for Rodgers, he has all the lights and attention on him in Primetime where he is known to shine. We are quite confident that Rodgers will bounce back and have an extremely productive night against the Lions defence.
If the Packers lose this game, there will be utter chaos between the front office and Aaron Rodgers. We don’t expect that to happen, and are expecting a MVP calibre type of game. Expect a blowout here, with Green Bay comfortably winning this game by two or three touchdowns.
Selection: Green Bay Packers -10.5 @ 1.90
