Hello fight fans, we’re back with another stacked fight night card filled with amazing scraps. It will be a tough act to follow last week’s fights, but we believe this card has some great underrated matchups. Predominantly being headlined by UK’s top talent’s this card will prove how UK’s best talent fares against UFC roster staples. We’re stoked and we’re sure you are too, so as always let’s dive right in!
Derek Brunson vs Darren Till
We kick things off in the main event with the two men around whom this card was built. A top 7 ranked fight in the middleweight division to determine the next challenger of Israel Adesanya’s long reigned throne.
Derek Brunson believes his recent career resurgence has set him on the path for a title shot and his journey will go through Liverpool’s star Darren “The Gorilla” Till.
Brunson has been a UFC roster staple since 2012 and has stepped up to face the best names in the business since. He has come up short against some top names including former and current champions, Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker & Anderson Silva, etc.
Facing a career crossroads in 2019, Brunson was on a 2 fight losing streak and had to make tough decisions very late in his career. He made significant adjustments to his game, changed gyms, and worked on everything he envisioned perfecting. This helped Brunson run through 4 top contenders including undefeated Edmen Shahbazyan and 5 fight win streak riding Kevin Holland.
Brunson has been an elite-level wrestler with frustrating top control and elite submissions skills credited to his black belt in BJJ. The only missing piece which stopped Brunson from defeating the best fighters was his striking and he has managed to fill the gap.
Brunson is at the peak of his career and has managed to become a good boxer who can strike with his opponents until he finds the perfect takedown opportunity. He believes he can defeat every UFC fighter during his current peak run and the main event spot against Darren Till is the ideal chance to prove it to the fight world.
Facing Brunson this week is the pride of Liverpool, England, Darren “The Gorilla” Till. Till is one of the most precise and elite strikers in the UFC today and his left hand is a real problem for anyone who runs into it.
Till entered the UFC as a 12-0 undefeated prospect in 2015 and he went on a 6-fight unbeaten streak which saw him defeating legends of the sport in Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson. This crazy run set Till up for a title shot with then-champion Tyron Woodley and this was the first time he faced adversity while coming up short.
Till faced another loss to Masvidal in a fight he was winning, which made him change his weight class and he debuted in the UFC’s Middleweight division against former title challenger Kelvin Gastelum. Till managed to outpoint a tough Gastelum and then he came up short against former champion Robert Whittaker in a close fight.
10 knockouts and 2 submissions combine for an impressive 67% finish rate for Darren Till. He is an elite-level striker with a very high fight IQ which is showcased every time he steps in the Octagon. Till also has an amazing 83% takedown defense which ensures that he keeps the fight on the feet where he can eventually finish his opponents. A highlight reel knockout this week will set Till up for a top fight needed to hold the belt one day.
This is an amazing fight and an intriguing battle to watch this weekend. The pathways to victories are clear, Brunson has to wrestle and if he cannot wrestle, he is most likely going to lose this fight. Brunson has to box early, land some power shots on Till, and smartly look for a single leg takedown as Till is known to stop double leg takedowns due to his strong hip movement.
Contrarily, Till has to be patient as he is the much superior striker here and if he can keep this fight on the feet in the initial rounds, he will out-strike Brunson and is likely to get a finish here. Ultimately, we are siding with the favorite here and we believe his recent skid does not do justice to how good a fighter he is. We believe he will be patient, stop the early takedowns and get the finish this weekend.
Did you know that around 60% of Middleweight fights do not hit the scorecards? and with two knockout artists facing each other this weekend, a finish is very likely. We are offering double winnings if your main event selection can end the night early, so hurry and get around this crazy promotion now.
