We’re back to the UFC apex for another one of our classic fight night, we’ve got some evenly contested fights which could decide the next title challengers in their divisions. We are intrigued to see how these fights play out, let’s dive right in!
Yan Xiaonan Vs Carla Esparza
In the co-main event of the evening, we have two tough women ready to battle to determine the next title challenger in the Women’s Strawweight division. Unbeaten star Rank 3 Yan Xiaonan takes on the veteran of the game in rank 4 Carla Esparza.
Yan Xiaonan is one of the top contenders in this stacked women’s strawweight division, with an impressive 6-0 UFC record she has an army of fans rallying for her success. She has impressed fight fans with her strong striking game which helped her defeat UFC’s top names like Claudia Gadelha and Angela Hill.
After being undefeated in her short yet impressive UFC run Yan makes a strong case for a title shot if she could cross the toughest hurdle of her career in Carla Esparza. After the loss of fellow Chinese fighter Weili, Yan is determined to bring back gold to China. Carla Esparza is one of the top veterans in this game, she was the holder of the inaugural UFC Strawweight Championship. Carla has faced the best in this business and came out on top more often than not.
She had a rocky run after losing her title but has recently collected her focus by going on a 4-fight win streak. Carla has submitted the current champion of her division in Rose Namajunas, and a win against Yan puts Carla in a great position to avenge her belt. Carla made a statement when she beat UFC’s undefeated rising contenderin Marina Rodriguez.
Carla would be determined to get this win and lay her hands on gold again before she hangs the boots. We think this is a close fight, Carla’s last 3 fights have been a judge’s nightmare as she scraped through with 2 split decisions. Contrarily, Yan has been tearing through her opponents and she’s not been involved in a close fight in the UFC to date.
We believe this is Yan’s toughest test as Carla is the OG champion of this division and she’s one of the toughest women on the roster.
Yan is the superior striker here and she will look to use her reach advantage to win rounds by striking accurately. Carla will look to mix in her superior grappling skills and take Yan to the canvas.
This fight is quiet even, but we are siding with the favorite in Yan here as she is the fresher and stronger fighter here. Momentum always matters and riding an undefeated streak will give Yan the confidence to get her hand raised.
Considering the close fights that Carla has had, fight fans cancapitalize on our Split decision promotion and if Yan loses by split decisionfight fans are guaranteed to get their money back.
Prediction – Yan Xiaonan by Decision – Stake Odds – 2.46 (Odds are subject to change)
Rob Font Vs Cody Garbrandt
Main event time, we’ve got an absolute banger on our hands in the main event this week. Two elite-level strikers facing off each other to see who can potentially knock the other out to get the title shot. Boston’s favorite rank 3 Rob Font is taking on the former champion himself in rank 4 Cody “No Love” Garbrandt.
Rob Font has always been around in the UFC being involved in exciting fights and rememberable finishes. Rob Font got a taste of the big stage when he faced the veteran Marlon Moraes and knocked him out cashing out as a 2.50 underdog in that fight. Rob jumped from rank 11 to rank 3 after his impressive performance against Marlon. He has revamped his career and prepared himself for the big stage by training with top featherweight Calvin Kattar.
Rob has had multiple knockout wins and performances of the night accolades to vouch for his fighting ability. A win over a former champion like Cody puts Rob in line for the title shot. Cody is one of the house names of the UFC, here is a fighter who has seen the highest of highs and lowest of lows in the fight game. Cody entered the UFC with a 5-0 record and a 100% finish rate, he lived up to the hype by winning 5 fights in a row to combine for a 10-0 record and a title shot.
Cody was a big underdog in his title fight against arguably the greatest bantamweight of all-time Dominick Cruz. The experts said that Cody’s only chance was a lucky shot, but he shocked the world by putting on one of the most impressive performances we have ever seen in the UFC.
Cody dominated Cruz for 5 hard rounds, dropped Cruz multiple times, and evaded attacks by dancing. Cody was on the moon at this point as he was 11-0 and the champion of the world. Here’s when he saw the lowest of lows by losing his belt and 3 fights in a row.
Cody took his time off and made a comeback against the veteran Raphael Assuncao by knocking him off at the horn in style. Cody Garbrant will be in line for a title shot if he wins this weekend, whether it is for the flyweight or the bantamweight title.
This fight is so exciting, the true fight fans know that a wild finish is expected in this fight. It is a battle between two elite strikers and one of them is getting knocked out. This is a fan favorite striker vs striker matchup and fight fans can expect a great fight this weekend.
Garbrandt is one of the best boxers in the UFC with the fastest hands on the roster. The only problem with Cody’s game is his tendency to forget technique and just brawl which has resulted in him losing 3 fights. Rob is very durable, and he will look to lure Cody into a wild brawl.
We think if he sticks to his technique, Cody is the much superior striker here and as a slight underdog, he is the play here. Fight fans can get involved with our double winning promotion by betting on Cody Garbrandt and if he finishes the fight, fans get double winnings.
Prediction- Cody Garbrandt by Knockout – Stake Odds – 2.90 (Odds are Subject to Change)
