Fight fans, we’re back to the cozy home of the UFC, Las Vegas with another entertaining Fight Night card. This card has some intriguing matchups and after a break of 1 week, we would all love to get some fight and betting action. After this card, we are headed straight to Arizona for the stacked UFC 263. It’s always fun to have a couple of heavyweight scraps on the card, the matchups on this card are worth tuning in. Let’s dive right in!
Santiago Ponzinibbio Vs Miguel Baeza
We’ve got ourselves a banger on the main card, two highly skilled strikers are going to war and only one of them is going to end the night with a number next to their name. The tough veteran of the game Santiago Ponzinibbio will be taking on undefeated Miguel Baeza for a seat at the Welterweight table.
Santiago was scouted by the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter Brazil in 2013, and since then has been one of the most exciting veterans on the roster. After a rocky start in the UFC, Santiago went on a 7-fight unbeaten streak which saw him beating the likes of fellow experienced campaigners in Mike Perry, Neil Magny and Gunnar Nelson, etc.
Santiago is primarily a kickboxer with 15 vicious knockouts, but he also has a reliable ground game which has seen him bag 6 submission wins. Santiago was set to face the elitist talent on the roster, but he took a huge 3-year layoff from the sport in 2018 and got knocked out in round 1 when he returned in early 2021. If Santiago shows up as the same fighter he was in 2018, there are not many fighters on the roster who can beat him.
Miguel Baeza is one of the top prospects in the UFC right now who was spotted on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019. Miguel has been on a 3-fight win streak with a 100% finish rate since he has entered the UFC Octagon. Miguel caught the attention of fight fans when he knocked out UFC legend Matt Brown.
Miguel is one of the few undefeated mixed martial artists on the roster and he is ready for the step-up in competition. Baeza is primarily a striker with strong leg kicks, elbows, and up kicks. Baeza is committed to fighting the best talent and holding that UFC belt one day.
This is an entertaining fight as primarily it will be a hard-hitting striking battle. Miguel will use his kicks and cardio to put the pressure on Santiago looking to knock him out by round 2. Santiago being a black belt in BJJ will lean on his wrestling in the later rounds to control Miguel and eventually finish him.
We believe this is a tough fight for both men and the closeness of the odds speaks for it. Overall, we think Miguel Baeza is the play here as he is young, hungry, and ready for the big stage.
Prediction – Miguel Baeza by Knockout – Industry Odds- 2.75 (Odds are subject to change, watch out when odds go live on Stake)
Jairzinho Rozenstruik Vs Augusto Sakai
We’ve got an explosive and action-packed main event on our hands; it is always entertaining when there are a couple of heavyweights involved. This fight will clear the path for one of these beasts to challenge the top 5 talents of their division. In the main event, we will witness rank 6 Jairzinho “Bigi Boy” Rozenstruik taking on rank 9 Augusto Sakai.
Jairzinho entered the UFC as a 6-0 undefeated fighter with multiple vicious knockouts in his fight resume. He went on a 4-fight knockout tear with 2 wins under 30 seconds, this allowed him to fight the current King Francis Ngannou. Bigi boy came up short but bounced back with a quick return to the Octagon which saw him knocking out legend Junior Dos Santos.
Jairzinho has had an impressive run so far with a 100% finish rate inside the UFC Octagon which earned him the attention of fight fans. Jairzinho is primarily a kickboxer with one of the heaviest pair of hands on the UFC roster. He will look to get back to the win column with a vicious knockout for the ages.
Facing Jairzinho in this week’s heavyweight main event will be Brazil’s very own Augusto Sakai. Sakai has had one of the most impressive starts in the UFC with a 5-fight win streak including 3 knockouts. This tremendous start guaranteed Sakai a step up in competition and the main event spot with the legend Alistair Overeem. Sakai went toe to toe with the legend for 5 rounds eventually coming short in a close fight. Regardless of not getting the desired result, Sakai proved that he is fit to fight the best talent on the roster.
Sakai is an explosive striker with impressive cardio considering his weight class. With an impressive career finish rate of 73%, Sakai does not believe in leaving his fate in the judge’s hand as he will look to get a finish this weekend.
There is always intensity in the air when two big heavyweights clash inside the small apex Octagon and this weekend’s fight is no different. This will be a high-stakes chess match where Jairzinho will look to remain patient and find the perfect knockout punch. Contrarily Sakai will look to keep his guard high and put the volume on Bigi Boy. Apart from the King Ngannou, no one has been able to knock out or even stun Jairzinho and this week should not be any different.
The pathway to Sakai’s victory is volume and cardio, he will have to tire Jairzinho and eventually get the decision or late TKO. Whereas Jairzinho has one-punch knockout power, and he has 25 minutes to find that one clean blow. We are siding with the slight favorite in Jairzinho here and believe that he will be able to find his punch eventually in this fight.
Prediction- Jairzinho Rozenstruik by Knockout – Industry Odds- 2.40 (Odds are Subject to Change, watch out when odds go live on Stake).
